During the broadcast last week from phoenix we talked about a rear wheel sensor attached to Yamaha rider James Stewart's motorcycle. Our reporter led the speculation by some that something illegal occurred. It is a clear understanding now that the team was gathering data during practice, as all teams are illegible to do under AMA and FIM rules.
Certainly there was a bit of confusion I think last week with regards to the Monster-Energy AMA Supercross FIM world championship rule book regards to traction control, telemetry and data acquisition. Currently our rule book states that data acquisition is legal, and it does include the rear wheel speed sensor that was find on his motorcycle during practice and qualifying last week so the motorcycle was in complain with our rules.
Well it was not our intend to cast a shadow of a doubt over the accomplishment of James Stewart, we realized that it has may cause speculation. And for that, we apologize to James Stewart, Yamaha Motor Corporation San Manuel Band of Mission Indians and L&M race.
