L'accident a eu lieu lors d'une séance d'essais et d'entraînement à Loon Plage en France.
Le Team Molson était au complet avec les mécanos et Stephen Sword.
Quand on pense que Gautier se remettait à peine de sa blessure à l'épaule...
Paulin effectuait des séances de 20 mn + 2 tours et c'est à la fin de la seconde que Gautier s'est crashé dans un virage rapide qu'ils prenaient d'habitude en 4!
Mais à cet endroit là il y avait un trou et Gautier a fait un soleil par dessus le guidon.
Quand il a voulu se relever sans s'être rendu compte de rien il s'est aperçu qu'il avait la jambe cassée... ouille

Paulin’s Pain Prolonged
Just one week away from his Grand Prix comeback Molson Kawasaki’s Gautier Paulin injures his left leg and looks set to miss the remainder of the season Molson Kawasaki’s Gautier Paulin suffered more bad luck and a further setback to his fledgling career as he prepared to make his long awaited GP comeback after breaking his collarbone at the French GP in June.
During a Molson team testing and training session at Loon Plage in Northern France the enigmatic Frenchman broke his left tibia in a high speed crash and it’s initially thought he’ll miss the rest of the 2008 GP season.
“I was there to do some testing sessions with a new engine set-up together with Stephen Sword and the mechanics of the team,” explained Gautier.
“I felt perfect, I had no more troubles with my shoulder – in fact I felt even better than earlier in the season and I was ready to battle at the next GPs.
“We were doing sessions of 20 minutes plus two laps and it was at the end of one of these periods that I crashed in a fast corner.
It was a fast corner that we took in fourth gear but there was a big hole and I went over the handlebars -
I was not feeling tired at all. When I wanted to stand up I understood that my leg was broken. Jacky was there and called the firemen who came with a 4x4 and carried me to the local hospital.
“I had exams there and they put on a plaster then I went with the team to Belgium where I met Dr Claes.
Yesterday afternoon I had surgery for the first time in my life, they put a pin in my left tibia and made a transplant.
Now I must not put my foot on the ground and I have to walk with crutches.
I will leave the hospital soon and then I will wait for the doctor’s advice.
I don’t know yet when I will be able to ride my bike again - I don’t think I will be able to race another GP this season.
As soon as possible I will start working for 2009.
I’m lucky to be part of a strong team, everyone there is really kind to me and they give me great support.
“It has been a frustrating season for me, with my hand injury in Valence, then the broken collarbone in France and now the leg. Each time I worked hard to recover, and I was happy with my physical shape before this accident. Injuries are part of motocross -
Josh Coppins was in this hospital several times in his career, Antonio Cairoli was here also on Thursday – let’s hope that next season will be better for me.”
Although Gautier will most likely be sidelined from racing for the rest of 2008 he will still be attending some GPs to visit the Molson team. The first of these visits is expected to be at the Grand Prix of Ireland in August.
